spamREF FAQs - What is being uploaded from my PC by the toolbar? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
The spamREF Outlook Toolbar v2 is in frequent communication with the spamREF servers to get updates of SPAM signatures. When communicating with the servers it also uploads Body Items that might be considered useful to other members of the spamREF community. The upload starts by validating that the toolbar belongs to a registered user and if successful the Body Items that have worked for the user are uploaded. The Body Item upload also contains the Hostname that the Toolbar is running on encrypted to provide a system identifier. Along with the Body Items that have been found, detail is also provided of last time and the total number of times that a given Body Item has been detected. This upload then gets processed and becomes available to all Professional version users as the 'Auto Body Item' feature and can also be accessed using the 'Top Body Items' link on the left. If the option in the Preferences, General Settings, 'Share my caught SPAM statistics with spamREF' has been selected then the totals, as displayed on the toolbar itself will also be uploaded. No other data are transmitted. |
