spamREF FAQs - spamREF is not ignoring emails from senders in my address book!

If spamREF is treating an email as SPAM even though the sender is in your address book there are only two likely reasons - assuming that you have not accidently unchecked the 'Ignore emails from senders in my address book' checkbox on the General Settings tab in the spamREF Outlook Toolbar v2 Preferences. Possible explanations are:

  1. Outlook does not understand that your Contacts folder is an Address Book. To rectify this simply use the Tools menu and select 'E-mail Accounts...'. This opens the E-mail Accounts Wizard. Select 'View or change existing directories or address books' at the bottom and click 'Next >'. If you don't see 'Outlook Address Book' in the list with Type 'MAPI' click 'Add...' and select 'Additional Address Books on the next screen and click 'Next >'. Select 'Outlook Address Book' and click 'Next >'. Acknowledge the information message and click 'Finish'. Close Outlook. Open Outlook and Contacts will be added by default to your Outlook Address Book. Restart Outlook again and your Contacts folder will now be used by spamREF.
  2. You have specified a Contact List of a different name in the Preferences. Click the spamREF Outlook Toolbar v2 Title button and select 'Contact Lists'. Make sure the Contact List you want to use is listed there.
Note: The Community Edition only supports using 'Contacts'
